Club Atlético Atenas was the first team he coached in 1955. Overall, he coached the national team in 68 matches, won 43 games and lost 23 times with his team. This was followed in 1971 as the national coach of Colombia . This made him the only Uruguayan coach until at least 2011 to coach two national teams. Other employers in his coaching career were Urunday Universitario , Hebraica Macabi , Club Atlético Peñarol , Stockolmo , Olimpia (Uruguayan champion 1965 with Ballefín), Defensores de Maroñas , his former club as Active Bohemios, Unión and Montevideo .
