The 1963 South American Basketball Championship , the twentieth South American Basketball Championship , took place between February 14 and March 4, 1963 in Lima , Peru , which was the third time the championship was held. The winner was the national team of Brazil , which won the title for the sixth time, for the fourth time in a row.
Each team played against each opponent once, so that each team played eight games (a total of 36 games took place). There were two points for each win and one point for a defeat. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided. The team with the most points became South American champions in 1963. Since the first three teams were tied, the basket ratio decided.
