The 2004 South American Basketball Championship , the forty -first South American Basketball Championship , took place between July 13 and 18, 2004 in Campos dos Goytacazes in the state of Rio de Janeiro . This was the seventh time that Brazil hosted this championship. The winner was the national team of Argentina , which could win the title for the eleventh time.
