The 2003 South American Basketball Championship for women , the twenty-eighth South American Basketball Championship for women , took place between June 22 and 27, 2003 in Loja , Ecuador , which hosted the championship for the third time. The winner was the Brazilian team , unbeaten for the nineteenth time, and for the ninth time in a row, the South American Women's Championship.
The preliminary round was completed in the form of a group stage, in which each team competed once against the other teams. There were two points for each win and one point for a defeat. The two teams with the highest points moved into the final and played the 2003 South American women's basketball champions.
