The 1937 South American Basketball Championship , the fifth South American Basketball Championship , took place between March 5 and 16, 1937 in Santiago de Chile and Valparaíso , Chile . The winner was the national team of Chile , which won the title for the first time. For Peru it was the first participation in the South American Championships.
