The 1954 South American Basketball Championship for women , the fifth South American Basketball Championship for women , was held between July 15 and 24, 1954 in São Paulo , Brazil , which hosted the championship for the first time. The winner was the host who won their first South American Women's Championship. For the first time a team from Ecuador took part in the tournament.
