Raül López Molist [ rə'uɫ 'lopeθ ] (born April 15, 1980 in Vic , Catalonia ) is a former Spanish basketball player .
Career
López began his career at Joventut de Badalona and moved to Real Madrid in 2000 . In the 2001 NBA Draft he was selected by the Utah Jazz in the first round (No. 24) with the aim of replacing John Stockton in the medium term. The 1.83 m tall point guard was only the third Spaniard in the 2003/04 season, after Fernando Martín and Pau Gasol to make his debut in the NBA . However, after a promising rookie season, Lopez injured his knee, so he never made a breakthrough in the NBA. In 2005 he was transferred to the Memphis Grizzlies , where he was released before the start of the season. López then returned to Europe, where he played for various Spanish and Russian teams. Most recently he played for Bilbao Basket until his retirement .
