Radewitz is a district of the town of Penkun in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

geography

The place is 6 kilometers west of Penkun on a ground moraine that extends in north-south direction between Oder and Randow over a length of around 20 kilometers. The neighboring towns are Friedefeld and Wollin in the northeast, Penkun in the east, Sommersdorf in the southeast, Grünz in the southwest, Schmölln in the west and Schwaneberg in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the place can be found in a document from March 22, 1289. In it Radewitz was listed under his current name and as part of a compensation to the Gramzow monastery . In 1618, the place was meanwhile recorded in the spelling "Radevitz". In a document from 1697 Radewitz was listed again under his previous and current name.

Until December 31, 1998 Radewitz was part of the community Grünz , which was incorporated into Penkun on January 1, 1999.
