Rafael Ramón Conde Alfonzo (born September 3, 1947 in Caracas , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Maracay .

Life

Rafael Ramón Conde Alfonzo was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Caracas on December 8, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Caracas, Santiago de Venezuela and titular bishop of Bapara on December 2, 1995 . The Pope personally donated his episcopal ordination on January 6 of the next year; Co-consecrators were the Archbishops of the Curia Giovanni Battista Re , substitute for the State Secretariat , and Jorge María Mejía , Secretary of the Congregation for Bishops and the College of Cardinals .

On August 21, 1997, he was appointed coadjutor bishop of La Guaira and on March 18, 1999, bishop of Margarita . He was appointed Bishop of Maracay on February 12, 2008, and was installed in office on April 26 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on July 19, 2019.
