Rafael Torija de la Fuente (born March 18, 1927 in Noez ; † March 2, 2019 ) was a Spanish clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Ciudad Real .

Life

Rafael Torija de la Fuente was ordained a priest on June 7, 1952 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 4, 1969 auxiliary bishop in Santander and titular bishop of Ursona . The Archbishop of Toledo , Cardinal Vicente Enrique y Tarancón , gave him episcopal ordination on December 14th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Gabino Díaz Merchán , Archbishop of Oviedo , and José María Cirarda Lachiondo , Bishop of Santander.

On November 8, 1976 he was named Prelate of Ciudad Real and Titular Bishop of Dora . With the elevation of the territorial prelature to the diocese on February 4, 1980, Rafael Torija de la Fuente was appointed the first bishop of Ciudad Real. On March 20, 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
