Raiffeisen-Volksbank Aurich-Wittmund eG was founded in 1997 through the merger of Volksbank Aurich eG with Raiffeisen-Volksbank Harlingerland eG, in which Raiffeisenbank Werdum eG in 1989, Raiffeisenkasse Langefeld-Middels eG in 1990, and Raiffeisenbank Harlingerland eG in Blomberg in 1991 and in 1992 Raiffeisenbank Leerhafe-Ardorf eG was taken over as part of a merger. Social Commitment

The RVB-Bürgerstiftung Ostfriesland, based in Uplengen, aims to promote charitable and benevolent purposes in the East Frisian region. These include youth care and child care, sport, art and culture, church life, home care, environmental and landscape protection, elderly care, public health, welfare and upbringing and education. The RVB-Bürgerstiftung Ostfriesland was funded in 2000 by Raiffeisen-Volksbank eG with an amount of around 150,000 euros. The foundation's assets are now around 520,000 euros (as of June 2019). Since the foundation was established on December 14, 2000, over 220,000 euros have been distributed for funding purposes.

With its regional fund, the RVB supports charitable purposes, social projects, art and cultural projects as well as local association projects. The members are involved in the decision on the allocation of funding. For seven of the eight customer areas, regional fund advisory boards - each consisting of three members plus a member of the management and supervisory board - decide which projects are supported from the respective customer area (Großefehn and Holtrop are viewed as one area).

In addition, the RVB initiated the RVB Bürgerersonnenpark Aurich eG, the RVB Bürgerersonnenpark Jümme-Uplengen-Wiesmoor eG and the RVB Bürgerersonnenpark Friedeburg-Wittmund eG.

Since December 2015, the RVB has also started a crowdfunding platform under the motto "Many create more" . Associations and non-profit institutions can post their projects on this platform and advertise them in order to raise donations. The RVB acts as a mediator by providing the appropriate technical platform and forwards the donors' payments to the project initiators. She also supports the projects by adding an amount per donor to every donation of 20 euros or more. Since the platform was launched, 30 projects have already been implemented and a total of almost 120,000 euros (as of July 2020) has been paid out to the associations and non-profit institutions by donors and the RVB.
