The Raiffeisenbank Ronshausen-Marksuhl eG was a cooperative bank based in Ronshausen in Hesse . Their business area covered parts of the Wartburg district in Thuringia and the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in Hesse. With retroactive effect from January 1, 2017, it merged with Volksbank and Raiffeisenbank Eisenach eG to form VR-Bank Eisenach-Ronshausen eG.

history

On May 28, 1910, 20 people met in Ronshausen in the hall of the former Biehl restaurant to found the savings and loan association eGmuH Ronshausen. The business mission was to raise funds and borrow loans to members for agricultural investments. The trade in agricultural aid goods was added very early on. The main co-operative directors in the first few years after it was founded were Johannes Becker as mayor and board member and Johannes Christian Becker as computer and managing director.

Serious events in the political environment also shaped the development of the cooperative in Ronshausen. The First World War (1914–1918), the end of the German Empire in 1918, the Second World War (1939–1945), two currency reforms (1923/24 and 1948), a world economic crisis (from 1929) and the division of Germany into East and West (1949 -1990).

From the 1950s, the political and economic environment returned to normal, which was the basis for the cooperative's positive development. The company grew and merged with the neighboring cooperatives in Hönebach (1964) and Bosserode (1966). The focus of business changed, while the money business became more important, the goods business lost its importance. The cooperative moved to Kasseler Strasse 25 in Ronshausen.

Due to the separation of Germany into two parts, the cooperative development of the Thuringian credit cooperatives at the time took on a temporarily differentiated development in the form of the so-called BHGn (rural trading cooperatives). With the German reunification in 1990 and the merger with the neighboring Thuringian cooperative in Marksuhl, the Raiffeisenbank Ronshausen-Marksuhl eG was created.

In 2017, the Volksbank and Raiffeisenbank Eisenach eG and Raiffeisenbank Ronshausen-Marksuhl eG finally merged. With the entry in the cooperative register on August 22, 2017, the merger became legally binding and the successor institute, VR-Bank Eisenach-Ronshausen eG, was created.
