Candidate for Federal President

Bahr currently has a seat on the municipal council of Sankt Wolfgang im Salzkammergut and had set himself the goal of running as a candidate for the election of the Austrian Federal President in 2010 . To do this, he should have received 6,000 declarations of support, which he did not manage by the relevant deadline. In his efforts, Bahr took the position that a serious, non-party opposing candidate for the incumbent Federal President Heinz Fischer is democratically necessary in order to guarantee the representation of a “critical conscience” in public political discussions, even against party-political efforts. His aim was, among other things, to campaign for a discussion about the unconditional basic income .
