Raimund Kull

Raimund Kull (born September 21 . Jul / 3. October 1882 greg. In Narva ; † 10. October 1942 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian composer and conductor .
Life
Raimund Kull completed his trombone studies at the St. Petersburg Conservatory with Franz Türner (1831–1909) in 1906 . He then worked as a conductor of various orchestras throughout the Russian Empire, but above all in Saint Petersburg , Kazan and Rostov-on-Don . From 1912 to 1920, as the successor to Adalbert Wirkhaus , Kull was chief conductor of the Estonia Concert and Opera House in Tallinn, from 1920 conductor and from 1930 its musical director.
From the state independence of Estonia from 1918 to 1927, Kull led the orchestra of the Estonian Navy . From 1934 to 1939 he was the conductor of the Estonian State Radio Orchestra.
In 1919 Raimund Kull was one of the co-founders of the Tallinn Conservatory . From 1929 he worked there as a lecturer for the trombone subject, and since 1937 with the rank of professor. He was one of the conductors on the IX. (1928), X. (1933) and XI. Estonian Song Festival (1938), one of the highest honors in Estonia's cultural calendar.
Raimund Kull is buried today in the Tallinn Forest Cemetery.
Compositions
Raimund Kull is also known for his compositions. The most famous pieces include the symphonic picture Kriuša lahing (1920), the March Kodumaa based on a text by Mihkel Veske , the Fantaasiakapriis and the Nocturne for violin and piano, and some songs for male choir.
Private life
Raimund Kull's partner was the theater and film actress Liina Reiman (1891–1961), who emigrated to Finland in 1943 after Kull's death .
