Rainer strips

Rainer Leisten (born August 7, 1957 in Düren ; † April 9, 2017 in Rheinberg ) was a German logistics scientist . He held the chair for general business administration and operations management at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg .

Life

Leisten studied mathematics with a minor in business administration at the University of Cologne from 1976 to 1981 , where he received his doctorate under Theodor Ellinger . After working for three years as a planner and controller at the headquarters of Commerzbank AG in Frankfurt am Main , he carried out research as a research assistant at the Alfred Weber Institute for Social and Political Sciences , in the field of business administration and operations research , at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where he completed his habilitation in 1995 .

Afterwards, Leisten was a university professor for business administration, especially production management , at the law and political science faculty of the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald until 1999 .

From August 1999 to September 2008 he held a professorship for industrial management and production management at the Gerhard-Mercator University in Duisburg and, from 2003, at the University of Duisburg-Essen . From October 2008 until his death on April 9, 2017, Leisten was Professor of General Business Administration and Operations Management at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

Leisten has published in a large number of well-known journals, including the International Journal of Production Economics , Computers & Operations Research and the Journal of the Operational Research Society .
