Rainer Thomsen
Rainer Thomsen , born Rainer Gaul (born March 9, 1971 in Wilhelmshaven ) is a German opera singer ( tenor ), singing teacher and church musician .
Life
Thomsen studied church music , music theory and piano at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama and singing at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media . He then completed training in functional voice pedagogy .
From August 2001 to August 2003 Thomsen was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven . He performed there under his maiden name "Rainer Gaul". There he sang roles from the lyric tenor fold and the area of the game Tenors . He made his house debut in November 2001 with the male leading role of Symon in the operetta Der Bettelstudent . He sang at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven on the opera stage a. a. Ferrando in Così fan tutte , Tamino in Die Zauberflöte , Fenton in Die Lustigen Frauen von Windsor , the helmsman in the Flying Dutchman and Hermann in Neues vom Tage .
In addition to his engagement at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven, he had guest contracts at the Stadttheater Flensburg , the Nordhausen Theater , the Hamburg Chamber Opera and the Lüneburg Theater . He now works as a freelance concert and opera singer.
Since August 2004 he has been cantor and organist of the St. Johannis Church in Hamburg-Eppendorf . In his position as cantor he was jointly responsible for the reorganization of the local church choir. Since 2010 he has been working as a freelancer and seminar leader at the Rabine Institute in Walheim . He is also responsible for weekly voice training in the choirs of the Hamburg main churches St. Michaelis and St. Katharinen .
