The Rajon Slobodseja ( Russian Слободзейский район / Slobodsejski Rajon ; Romanian Raionul Slobozia ) is one of the Rajons of the internationally unrecognized state of Transnistria . It has around 87,000 inhabitants and covers an area of ​​873.24 square kilometers . The administrative capital is Slobozia (Russian Slobodseja ). The area of ​​the Rajon includes the surroundings of the capital Tiraspol , but not the city itself. In the west it borders on the city of Bendery , in the north on the Rajon Grigoriopol .

The Rajon also includes a larger area west of the Dniester River , in particular the village of Kizkany with an important monastery. The village of Kopanka , south of Kizkany, is also claimed by Transnistria as part of the Rajon, but is under the control of the Republic of Moldova .

The population of Slobodzeja Rajons is multicultural. In 2004 it consisted of 41.5% Moldovans ( Romanians ), 26.6% Russians , 21.7% Ukrainians and 7.7% Bulgarians . Smaller minorities were Gagauz (0.5%), Germans (0.5%) and Belarusians (0.5%).
