Rakowo (Krzęcin)

Rakowo ( German Raakow ) is a village in the rural municipality of Krzęcin ( Kranzin ) in the powiat Choszczeński ( Arnswalder Kreis ) in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship .

Geographical location

The village is located in the Neumark , about four kilometers northeast of the village Krzęcin ( Kranzin ), 12 kilometers southeast of Choszczno ( Arnswalde ) and 72 kilometers southeast of Stettin ( Szczecin ).

His German Location ( Raakow ) should not be confused with the similar names of the past also in the Neumark, but the city Drebkau belonging village Raakow ( Lower Sorbian Rakow ) with lock Raakow in Spree-Neisse .

history

Raakow is said to be identical to the place Ratikow mentioned in a document from 1336 . It was originally a manor and belonged to the Wedel family. In 1354, when part of the village came to Marienwalde Monastery , it was called Rackow . The manor had been owned by the Goltz family for a long time . In 1789 it was bought by Berend Ludwig von Delitz . In 1823 the village consisted of two parts, the part belonging to the Marienwalde office and the part belonging to the manor. The church was a branch of Kürtow .

Before the end of World War II Raakow belonged to the county Arnswalde , in 1938 by the Province of Brandenburg in Pomerania had been reclassified. The region was placed under Polish administration in 1945.
