Ralf-Peter Devaux

Ralf-Peter Rüdiger Devaux (born May 22, 1940 in Schloßberg ) is a former German secret service agent. He was Colonel of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) of the GDR and from 1987 to 1990 deputy head of the intelligence headquarters .

Life

Devaux joined the SED in 1957 . After graduating from high school in 1958, he completed a law degree at the Humboldt University of Berlin until 1962, with a degree in law. From 1960 he was led as an unofficial employee (IM) of the MfS. After a course in 1963/64 at the school of the Enlightenment Headquarters , Devaux joined the Ministry of State Security . From 1977 to 1981 he was the first secretary of the permanent representation of the GDR in Bonn, at the same time head of the residency of the main intelligence administration (HVA).

1986/87 he studied at the party college "Karl Marx" . From 1987 he was the deputy head of the HVA as a colonel and responsible for the HVA departments I (state apparatus of the FRG), II (parties and social organizations in the FRG), XVI (operational use of official contacts) and XVIII (management of sabotage agents). In 1989 he was briefly a member of the Foreign Policy Commission at the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED . Devaux remained in service until the MfS was dissolved in 1990.
