Ralf Göbel (born July 19, 1961 in Morlautern , Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Kaiserslautern in 1980 , Göbel studied law and political science at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the University of Trier , which he completed in 1986 with the first state examination in law. During the subsequent legal clerkship , Göbel completed a supplementary course at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer , which he obtained in 1989 with the academic degree of Mag.rer.publ. completed. After taking the second state examination in 1989, he joined the Rheinhessen-Pfalz district government as a consultant for environmental law. In 1990 he moved to the district administration of Germersheim as head of social affairs and from 1993 to 2002 he worked as a department head at the Rheinpfalz police headquarters in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . From 1997 to 2002 Göbel also had a teaching position at the German Administration College in Speyer. From 1996 to 2009 he was a member of the Justice Examination Office of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.

In the spring of 2009, Göbel gave back his mandate in the Bundestag to take over the office of Vice President of the Federal Police Headquarters in Potsdam on March 1, 2009 . Göbel has been working in the Federal Ministry of the Interior since the beginning of 2010, initially as a permanent representative of the head of the Federal Police, and since June 16, 2014, as a permanent representative of the head of the sport department. Since May 2012 Göbel has been (honorary) Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European border protection agency FRONTEX based in Warsaw.

Political party

Göbel was chairman of the CDU district association Landau from 1997 to August 24, 2007 and was a member of the board of the CDU district association Rheinhessen-Pfalz from 1999 to 2009.

From 2002 to spring 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag and deputy spokesman for domestic affairs for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and chairman of the CDU / CSU in the interior committee .

Ralf Göbel has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the constituency of the Southern Palatinate . In the 2005 Bundestag election he received 43.2% of the first votes .
