Ralf Hilmes (born January 31, 1965 ) is a former German football referee from Nordhorn in the county of Bentheim .

Career

His first game in the last season of the Oberliga Nord that was whistled as a full-time referee was the 3: 3 draw between Kickers Emden and VfB Lübeck on September 4, 1993 . By the end of that season he headed a total of seven games.

In the next season he whistled in the Regionalliga Nord, the first game was here on the seventh matchday that 2-2 of the Lüneburg SK against FC Bremerhaven . In the same year he made his debut as a referee in the 2nd Bundesliga. Here it was Hansa Rostock's 5-0 home win against Chemnitzer FC on November 14th . His first and only game in the first division he was finally allowed to play on May 24, 1997 when FC Schalke 04 went 0-2 against SC Freiburg . In addition, he was only active on the field as an assistant in games in the first division.

He then pursued his active career in the higher leagues until the 1999/2000 season. In the Regionalliga his last game was on May 20, 2000 with a 1-1 draw for VfL Osnabrück against SV Wilhelmshaven . His last game in the 2nd league was a good week later on May 26th in the 1-0 home win of Chemnitzer FC against Tennis Borussia Berlin .

He currently holds the post of referee training supervisor in the referee committee at NFV Kreis Grafschaft Bentheim and is also a referee observer for the DFB, he lives in Nordhorn . He is also head of the department for economic development in the county of Bentheim.
