The 1984 Dakar Rally was the 6th edition of the Dakar Rally . The course was extended to Ivory Coast , Guinea , Sierra Leone and Mauritania .
A total of 427 participants took part, with René Metge and Dominique Lemoyne with a Porsche 953 in the automobile classification and Gaston Rahier in the motorcycle classification as winners.
