Route 2017

The 2017 Dakar Rally was the 39th edition of the Dakar Rally and the 38th that actually took place. It took place for the ninth time in a row in South America , began on January 2, 2017 at the same time in Asunción and Atyrá in Paraguay and ended after twelve stages on January 14 in Buenos Aires . During this time, depending on the vehicle class, around 9,000 kilometers, including up to 4,000 racing kilometers, are covered through Paraguay, Argentina and Bolivia.

In the cars, the Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel ( Peugeot ) won with a time of 28:49:30 and 5:13 minutes ahead of his brand colleague Sébastien Loeb . It was Peterhansel's 13th victory overall (motorcycle and car). Originally, Peterhansel was clearly behind Loeb after an accident on the tenth stage. The jury granted him a time credit because he initially stayed with injured motorcyclist Simon Marcic and lost many minutes as a result. Peterhansel got back the lead and did not give it up until the finish.

In the motorcycles, the Briton Sam Sutherland won with a time of 32:06:22, in the quads the Russian Sergej Karjakin with 39:18:52 and in the trucks the Russian Eduard Nikolajew with 27:58:24, the shortest time of all vehicles .
