consequences

As a consequence of the terror threats and the subsequent cancellation of the rally, the Dakar Rally 2009 and the subsequent ones did not take place in Africa, but in South America (from Argentina via the Andes to Chile).

The Central Europe Rally was held in 2008 as a replacement event for the Dakar Rally.
