Ralph Sonntag (* 1968 in Fulda ) is a German business economist and business IT specialist . Since 2004 he has been a professor of marketing , especially multimedia marketing, at the Dresden University of Technology and Economics (HTW Dresden).

Life

Sonntag studied business administration in Würzburg. He then worked as a research assistant at Eric Schoop's chair and project manager at the Steinbeis Transfer Center for Company Information Management in Dresden. Here he received his doctorate in 1999 in the field of business informatics on the subject of "Organization of active environmental handbooks: a contribution to process-oriented document management" for a doctorate in economics. This was followed by activities at the management consultancy Diebold in the field of digital business as well as at communication and advertising agencies. He then built up the startup active-film.com AG, in which Gruner + Jahr and Dresdner Bank were involved. Later he was a project manager at Ossi Urch's network agency 3w4u.

As a professor for business informatics, especially organization, he initially taught at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences and in 2004 accepted the professorship for marketing, especially multimedia marketing, at the HTW Dresden.

After several legislatures as Vice Dean , Sonntag was Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics from 2012 to March 2015 . From 2015–2020 he was Vice Rector for Teaching and Studies at the HTW Dresden and initiated a. a. the day of teaching, fellowships and funds for innovative forms of teaching as well as the didactic cuff. Since 2010 he has been head of the founding forge, an incubator of the university, and since 2020 the university's founding representative.

Sonntag works as a freelance consultant in the field of marketing and company formation alongside his professorship. From 2014 to 2018 he was a member of the supervisory board of Konsum Dresden eG, from 2015 to 2018 chairman of the supervisory board. Sonntag supports start-ups, for example he was on the supervisory board of a start-up in the financial services sector and one in the social network sector. Since 2020 he has been involved with Africa GreenTec AG, where he is also on the supervisory board.

Ralph Sonntag is married and has two children. He lives in Dresden .

Research, projects and awards

Sunday's work and research focuses on the investigation of social media and social commerce , word of mouth , customer loyalty instruments , media planning methods and advertising success research . As part of his professional activity as an inventor, he was involved in five international patents in the field of software-based control and interaction of video sequences.

The successes during his work at active-film.com AG include: a. the 1st place convergence award 2001 for the campaign “Clio Duell” and the Distinctive Merit Award 2002 from the Art Director Club New York for the website “Die Gläserne Manufaktur”. In 1992 he also received the German-Austrian university software award for the best multimedia learning program (HERMES).

Sonntag works as a project manager in various projects at the HTW Dresden, such as a. Projects in the field of e-learning such as up2study in the HAWtech network, social media communication , case study network and E-Stube .

Functions & engagement

Ralph Sonntag works as a reviewer for various accreditation agencies. He is a liaison professor for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation . He is involved as a confidante for the study compass of the German Business Foundation . Within the university forum digitization of the Stifterverband, CHE and HRK he is u. a. active as a mentor for universities. He was a participant in the 2016 annual program in the Alliance for Higher Education Teaching High n and supports the network.

In 2018 he was elected to the management committee of the E-Learning working group of the State Rectors' Conference of Saxony. Since 2019 he has been a member of the expert committee of the “InnoStartBonus” funding program of the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport . Ralph Sonntag has been a member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem since 2017 .
