The Ram Slam T20 Challenge was a national Twenty20 - Cricket Competition in South Africa . The competition, which was originally introduced in 2003, was called Standard Bank Pro20 Series and has since changed its name several times. From 2011 it was called the MiWay T20 Challenge , before it was called the Ram Slam T20 Challenge from 2012. The winner has qualified since the 2008/09 season, and since 2009/10 the two finalists of the competition have been able to qualify as South African representatives for the Champions League Twenty20 , which takes place annually until 2014 .

The tournament was played from the beginning between the six franchise teams, in the 2007-08 season Zimbabwe and in the 2011/12 season Impi participated as the seventh team. In April 2019, Cricket South Africa announced that due to austerity measures and a restructuring of cricket in the country, the 2018/19 season would be the final edition of the tournament. The tournament has in fact been replaced with another franchise T20 tournament, the Mzansi Super League , which was first played in 2018.
