Ramblin 'on My Mind is a blues song by the American blues musician Robert Johnson .
The title and its history
The song is in the original key of E major and was recorded by Johnson in two takes , each of which was used for one of the two releases. Johnson used an open-tuned acoustic guitar to play the bass line on the low guitar strings and combine it with livelier melodies on the high strings. He leaned the melody on the piece M & O Blues by Walter Davis .
Johnson took the title on 23. November 1936 in San Antonio ( Texas on). In May of the following year the title on a 78- was RPM - record for the label Vocalion (03519) and ARC published (7-05-81).
Cover versions
Boyd Gilmore coverte the song in 1952. Also, Howlin 'Wolf interpreted Ramblin' on My Mind . On July 22, 1966, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers released their version of the song on the album Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton . Lucinda Williams followed in 1979, Simply Red in 1991. As a solo artist, Eric Clapton released numerous variants of the song on the albums EC Was Here , Just One Night , Stages , Crossroads 2: Live in the Seventies , Sessions for Robert J , Live from Madison Square Garden , Give Me Strength - The '74 / '75 Recordings and Forever Man .
