location

The Rammelsberg rises in the southern part of the Rothaar Mountains in the Sauerland-Rothaar Mountains Nature Park . Its summit is located 2.3 km (as the crow flies ) east -south- east of the core town of Erndtebrück and 1.3 km north-west of the Bad Laaspher district of Amtshausen as well as 1.8 km north-east of Ebschloh ( 686.3  m ) and 1.5 km south-south-east of the Steimel ( 595.8  m ).

Natural allocation

The Rammelsberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33), in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Wittgensteiner Kammer (333.1) to the natural area Erndtebrücker Leimstruht (333.12).

Mountain height

The Rammelsberg is 637.2  m high. In topographic maps , two trigonometric points with the heights of 634.9  m and 630.7  m are recorded on its summit region .

Flowing waters

The Breitenbach, which flows into the Eder in Erndtebrück, rises in the transition area from the Rammelsberg to the Steimel in the north . The source of the Baierbach, which flows into the Schameder in Schameder , lies on the east-northeast slope of the mountain . The Rüppersbach , also known as Rammelsbach in the upper reaches, rises on its southern slope , which is fed by the small Amtshausen stream in Amtshausen and flows into the Lahn in Feudingen ; The Rüppersbach bears the last mentioned name partly below Amtshausen, and in Feudingen it is called Feudinge. The source of the Rammelsbach, which flows into the Benfe on the southern edge of Erndtebrück, is located on the transition area to Ebschloh in the southwest .

Others

There is a transmission tower on the summit of the Rammelsberg and the former forester's house Immergrün on its southeast slope . Parts of the Bad Laasphe landscape protection area ( CDDA no. 555558490; designated 1987; 122.9381  km² in size) and the LSG Rothaargebirge ( SI ) ( CDDA no. 555555273; 1984; 299.0128 km²) extend to its summit region .
