Randee Hermus (born November 14, 1979 in Surrey ( British Columbia )) is a former Canadian national soccer player .

Career

societies

Hermus played several times between 2001 and 2009 for the women's team of the Vancouver Whitecaps (2001 to 2002 as Vancouver Breakers ) in the W-League . For example, she returned to the Whitecaps after a year-long stint at Norwegian first division club IF Fløya in 2003 and won the W-League championships in 2004 and 2006 with them. After the 2009 season, Hermus ended her footballing career.

National team

At the age of 19 she took part in the Pan American Games in 1999 , in which Canada finished fourth. At the age of 20, she made her first international match for the senior national team at the Algarve Cup on March 12, 2000 against China . She was used over 90 minutes in each of the four games and ended up fifth with her team. In the next two games in the US Cup in May, it was not used. At the immediately following Women Pacific Cup in Australia , she was substituted in the first two games and was then three times in the starting line-up, where she was substituted once. In the 1: 9 defeat against the USA in the second game, one of the three biggest defeats in Canada, she was only substituted when the score was 0: 7. The Canadians finished the tournament in third place. At the following CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2000 she was substituted on in two group games in the first half and the game for third place in the second half, which the Canadians lost 2-1 to China. In the next 12 games she came to six inserts. After two short appearances in friendly games against the USA at the end of June / beginning of July 2001, after which there were no further games until the Algarve Cup 2002 , she was then used in all games in the starting XI and scored in the 7-1 against Portugal in third group game on March 5, her first international goal. She also played three times over the full distance at the subsequent tournament in France .

In 2002 she won silver at the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup , with the Canadians losing to the USA in the final . The Canadians thus qualified for the 2003 World Cup , where they also belonged to the squad, but could not be used due to an injury.

In March 2004 she took part in the Olympic qualification tournament , but surprisingly failed in the semifinals to Mexico .

At the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2006 she was able to qualify with Canada for the 2007 World Cup, but again it was only enough to win silver, because in a highly dramatic final they only lost in the 120th minute to a controversial penalty kick. She had equalized for her team after the early opening goal of the US girls in stoppage time in the first half.

At the Pan American Games in 2007 bronze was added. At the 2007 World Cup she was used in three games, but retired with her team after the group stage. Since she could not be used in 2003 due to her injury, she holds an unusual record: with 91 internationals before her first World Cup match, she played the most international matches of all Canadians before her first World Cup appearance.

After she had played 46 games in a row between April 2005 and the Cyprus Cup in 2008 , which the Canadians won against the US U-20 team , and thus set a new national record, she made a goalless draw in March 14, 2008 Friendly match against France, their 100th international match. At the Olympic qualification tournament that took place shortly afterwards , they were able to return the favor to the Mexicans and qualify for Beijing. There she came in the second group game in a 1-1 draw against hosts China to her only game at the Olympic Games and this was her last international match.
