particularities Easily accessible Allgäu panoramic mountain in the Hörnergruppe

The Rangiswanger Horn (also Rangiswangerhorn ) belongs to the horn group in the Allgäu Alps . It reaches a height of 1,616 m and stands between Bolsterlang and Ofterschwang . Geologically, the Rangiswanger Horn belongs to the Flysch Mountains of the "Vorderen Hörnergruppe", which are rich in boggy meadows and species-rich gorge forest tobels.

description

The Rangiswanger Horn with its large fields of alpine roses is a relatively easy-to-reach vantage point ( T2 ) on many hiking trails . Its strikingly round head is characterized by open slopes as well as some clearings and mountain meadows. The Hörnerkette and the Bregenz Forest extend to the north and west, and the Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal mountains to the south. Beyond the wide valley of the Iller , the foothills of the Allgäu Alps rise around Hinterstein.

The name means "Horn above the Alpe Rangiswang" . However, the old name of this alp, which is located south of the Rangiswanger Horn, was Ramswang . Thaddäus Steiner assumes that “for reasons of name rhythm” Ramswang was adjusted to the three-syllable place names Bolsterlang , Sigiswang , Ofterschwang and above all to the horns named after them.

Sports

The tour to the Rangiswanger Horn is very popular with ski tourers and snowshoe hikers as a winter beginner tour. The mountain is largely avalanche-proof. Dieter Seibert says: "The ultimate in a problem-free foothills tour" with a "three-star descent to Sigiswang". Kristian Rath writes of an "ideal beginner's tour". Except for the last ascent to the summit, there are no steep slopes.
