Rankin (born John Rankin Waddell in Paisley on April 28, 1966 ) is a British portrait and fashion photographer .

Life

Rankin was born in Paisley in 1966 and grew up as the son of a businessman. He is an alumnus of the London College of Communication . Together with Jefferson Hack, he started the monthly magazine Dazed and Confused in 1991 . In December 2000 he published his own quarterly fashion magazine Rank for the first time .

He photographed Kate Moss , Heidi Klum , Gisele Bündchen , Keira Knightley , Vivienne Westwood , Katy Perry , Madonna , Cate Blanchett , Nelly Furtado and David Bowie and also made recordings for labels such as Hugo Boss and L'Oréal . Since 2009 he has been taking photos for Germany's Next Top Model .
