Raoul Herget

Raoul Herget (born November 11, 1957 in Wiener Neustadt ) is an Austrian tuba player (also sousaphone and cimbasso ) and music teacher.

Live and act

Herget studied at the Vienna University of Music and at the Jazz Department of the Vienna Conservatory as well as philosophy of science at the University of Vienna. He worked with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra . He kicked u. a. with Friedrich Gulda , Gil Evans , Michael Mantler , Lee Konitz and Paul Bley . He is also a longstanding member of Franz Koglmann's various band projects , such as his Pipetet or Pipe Trio . He was also one of the mammoth horns , for which he also arranged, and Heinz Czadek's Project Two . He founded the 11Concert Band , to which musicians like Klaus Dickbauer , Peter Herbert and Sigi Finkel belong, and recorded with Steve Lacy , but also as a conductor with Falco ( Symphonic ). Since 1992 he has been director of the Josef Matthias Hauer Music School in Wiener Neustadt ; In 2009 he was awarded the professional title of Professor by the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture . “During his years as director, the concert course was expanded, the jazz department expanded and a course for composition and twelve-tone playing was set up. Herget has also made special contributions to early musical education and was able to achieve great success in competitions such as Prima la Musica with his students. ”He is also the musical director of the Wiener Neustadt Jazz Days . In 2017 he initiated the Wiener Neustädter Stadtkapelle which he also leads.
