Rasmus Andresen (born February 20, 1986 in Essen ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). Andresen was from 2009 bis 2019 Member and 6 June 2017 to June 2019 Vice President of the Schleswig-Holstein parliament . He has been a member of the European Parliament since July 2nd, 2019 .

biography

Andresen was born in Essen, but grew up in Flensburg from the age of two , where he still lives today. He attended schools of the Danish minority and graduated from the Danish grammar school Duborg-Skolen in 2005 . After completing his community service in a home for the disabled, he studied in Roskilde, Denmark, and obtained a bachelor's degree in administration and communication sciences. He is studying the master's degree in " Governance " at the Distance University in Hagen .

politics

Andresen has been involved with the Green Youth since he was 15, and later with the Greens themselves. He is also involved in the Danish Socialistisk Folkeparti (SF) and their youth organization SFU . In 2008 he accompanied Barack Obama's election campaign in the USA and wrote his bachelor thesis on the impact of the financial crisis on the US election campaign.

Rasmus Andresen is a founding member of the Solidarity Modern Institute .

Member of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament (2009-2019)

For the Schleswig-Holstein state election on September 27, 2009 , Andresen was a candidate for Alliance 90 / The Greens in 10th place on the list. Due to the very good election result of 12.4% for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and the twelve state parliament mandates achieved with it, Andresen moved to the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament on October 27, 2009. In the state parliament he was a deputy member of the social committee and the education committee.

In the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein in 2012 , Andresen was re-elected to the state parliament. Since then he has been the first deputy chairman of the parliamentary group and spokesman for his group's budget, university and minority policy. Since November 2012 he has been a member of the 16-strong management body, the Federal Party Council, of his party.

Rasmus Andresen won a direct mandate in the local elections on May 25, 2013 as the first Green in Flensburg, in the inner city constituency 11.

In August 2014 Rasmus Andresen asked the Lord Mayor of Flensburg Simon Faber to try to host an Olympic event in Flensburg. He was interested in sailing competitions and the handball tournament, which could be awarded to another city in the event of a possible renewed application initiative by Hamburg .

For the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein in 2017 , Rasmus Andresen was elected as a direct candidate for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen for the constituency of Flensburg . He was elected via the state list .

Member of the European Parliament (since 2019)

In May 2018 Andresen announced his candidacy for the federal list of Alliance 90 / The Greens for the 2019 election of the European Parliament . He took up position 16 on the federal list with the topics of budget and digitization and was elected to the European Parliament on May 26, 2019. There he joined the group Die Grünen / EFA and is a member of the Committee on Budgets and a deputy member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection .
