Rasmus Løland

Rasmus Løland (born May 24, 1861 in Løland , † October 12, 1907 in Hvalstaddalen ) was a Norwegian writer who was considered one of the most outstanding children's book authors of his time.

Life

Løland was born in Løland on May 24, 1861. He was plagued by diseases from childhood and later became a neurotic . He died on October 12, 1907 in Hvalstaddalen.

Style and genre

Løland often portrayed people who, as not conforming to the social norm, had to live out their lives or were ostracized. In this regard, he described particularly weak characters as well as highly gifted ones. Writer's compassion was considered one of the strengths of his melancholy portrayals.

With regard to his children's books, it was above all the child's psyche that the writer was able to trace masterfully.
