The town hall of Treuchtlingen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen is located at Hauptstraße 31. The older parts of the building are registered as architectural monuments in the Bavarian list of monuments under monument number D-5-77-173-15 .

architecture

The town hall was built in the neo-renaissance style as a representative building in 1893. The architect was Theodor Eyrich . The town hall had a richly structured facade and a mighty portal zone as well as a high roof lantern with an exit on the roof ridge . Furthermore, ornaments made of sandstone were still present on the facade , the bay windows and window gables were triangular in shape, and the basement had straps made of natural stone .

In 1934 the building was converted into a functional building, the clock tower was removed and a siren was added - as well as most of the neo-renaissance elements were removed and the building was expanded to include an annex on the west side. The bay porch, the window division and the roof shape were retained.

In 1988 the town hall was repaired and rebuilt by Wunibald Puchner in its original but reduced form. The banding on the basement floor was reconstructed with plastered rustication and corner pilasters and balcony exit as well as the central entrance with a copper-clad and engraved double-leaf door with bronze nails was restored. The clock tower on the roof, which has also been restored, has a pointed helmet and a weather vane in the form of a red fox - the Treuchtlinger heraldic animal - as well as four dials and a visible carillon for twelve melodies.

The meeting room dates from the time it was built and has a richly decorated wooden ceiling and door cornice. The three-story structure has a hipped roof .
