Raymond Saint-Gelais

Raymond Saint-Gelais (born March 23, 1936 in Baie-Saint-Paul ) is former bishop of Nicolet .

Life

Raymond Saint-Gelais was ordained priest for the diocese of Saint-Hyacinthe on June 12, 1960 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Saint-Jérôme and titular bishop of Diana on July 5, 1980 . The Archbishop of Québec , Maurice Cardinal Roy , donated him episcopal ordination on July 31 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Louis-de-Gonzague Langevin MAfr , Bishop of Saint-Hyacinthe, and Charles-Omer Valois , Bishop of Saint-Jérôme.

On February 19, 1988, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Nicolet and on April 25 of the same year he was introduced to the office. After Joseph Albertus Martin's retirement , he succeeded him on March 14, 1989 as Bishop of Nicolet. On July 11, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
