CI Reactive Blue 2 is a reactive dye from the group of anthraquinone dyes with a monochlorotriazine reactive anchor.

Reactive Blue 2 is used as a reactive dye for dyeing cotton fibers.
As a functional dye , it is used to purify proteins and enzymes in affinity chromatography and to color proteins. It has a high affinity for enzymes with binding sites for nucleotides such as NAD and ATP ( dehydrogenases , kinases etc.) as well as for albumin , coagulation factors and interferons .
As a technical product, Reactive Blue 2 is marketed under various brand names - for example Basilen Blue E-3G , Cibacron Blue F3G-A , Procion Blue HB - and with different compositions (reaction salts , thickening agents , organic by-products). In addition to metanilic acid , the triazinyl ring can also be substituted by sulfanilic acid .
