Ready for Boarding is the first live album by the German heavy metal band Running Wild .
Emergence
Running Wild had released the album " Under Jolly Roger " in 1987 , which was sold in good numbers despite mediocre to poor reviews. After a first tour in April 1987, the band went on a second tour in autumn, on which Running Wild played concerts together with the British band Satan in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary, which at that time still belonged to the Eastern Bloc . In the meantime the band had changed and the rhythm section Stephan Boriss / Wolfgang “Hasche” Hagemann was replaced by the Jens Becker / Stefan Schwarzmann duo .
The live album was recorded in Munich on November 9th and 10th, 1987 , when the band played there on two consecutive evenings. The name of the album is derived from the name of the tour, "Ready for Boarding". In the context of the band's “ pirate ” image at the time, the title can be translated as “Ready to capture ”.
The album only contains songs from the first three albums "Gates to Purgatory", "Branded and Exiled" and "Under Jolly Roger". The song "Purgatory", which is not found on any of the band's studio releases, was also played, but was still part of the live program years later. In the announcement of the song, singer and rhythm guitarist Rock 'n' Rolf alias Rolf Kasparek dedicates the song of the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC), which at the time made headlines in the USA with control measures against media perceived as offensive. The intro entitled "The Hymn of Long John Silver " is also not a studio track .
The album was released on CD and LP on February 22, 1988 via Noise Records .
It was not until 2002 that another live album was released with “ Live ”, but in 1990 a recording of the tour for “ Death or Glory ” was released on video.

Criticism and reception
Immediately after its release, “Ready for Boarding” received good reviews. After the "Under Jolly Roger" LP, which was perceived as disappointing, critics were skeptical, but z. B. Wolfgang Schäfer was surprised in Rock Hard . In his review he praised the sound quality and saw in “Purgatory” signs of an improvement in the situation:
“The selection of songs is also interesting, as it forms a representative cross-section of all the works that have been published so far and is therefore quite successful, which is not always the case with live LPs. With “Purgatory” there is even a track that was previously unreleased. All of this justifies a [grade of] 8.5, which I also give in the hope that all Running Wild opponents [...] will get the wind out of their sails. "
