from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rebecca "Becky" Quinn (born May 24, 1971 in Quakertown , Bucks County , Pennsylvania) is a former American track cyclist .

Rebecca Quinn grew up near the " Lehigh Valley Velodrome " in Trexlertown and got into track cycling. After completing her studies, she briefly worked as a teacher, but then decided to go cycling. Rebecca Quinn was twice US champion, in 2005 in scratch and 2007 in points . Internationally, she achieved numerous podium places in World Cup races . She took part in six track world championships and was able to take fourth place twice.

Quinn's lawsuit against the American association "US Cycling" caused a sensation in the USA because it was not nominated for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . She alleged that Sarah Hammer was preferred to her because she was in a relationship with the team's coach, Andy Sparks. The court dismissed their lawsuit, but ordered US Cycling to pay the court costs because the coaches had cast doubts about the fairness of the selection.

Since this legal battle, Quinn has had little international success; before a planned comeback on the occasion of the 2010 World Championships in Copenhagen , she broke her pelvis in a fall. She plans to start at the 2012 Olympic Games in London .
