occupation

Red Lights is an American - Spanish feature film directed by Rodrigo Cortés from 2012 with Cillian Murphy , Sigourney Weaver and Robert De Niro in the leading roles.

action

The film is about the young parapsychologist Tom Buckley, who is on the trail of a successful medium. This is Simon Silver, who used to be a star and is now making a comeback. So far, the only person in his profession has been able to prove no charlatanism by the sharpest critic of such stage shows (in which parapsychological phenomena are sold as real skills), the superior of the young scientist, Margaret Matheson . In search of the truth, the parapsychologists penetrate into ever more mysterious shoals. Matheson dies in the course of the investigation. After a private visit to the blind Simon Silver, Buckley, who is increasingly plagued by nightmares, does everything in his power to prove his cheating during a prestigious test for psychic abilities before Silver's abilities are confirmed as false and genuine. Meanwhile, he begins a relationship with one of his students, Sally Owen, who helps him with his work. The proof is finally achieved by evaluating the video recordings made during the tests; this clearly shows that Simon Silver has faked his blindness. In the showdown, conducted as an eloquent dialogue on and in front of the stage of a packed theater, it is implied that Tom Buckley himself has psychic abilities.
