Craig Haydn Roberts (born January 21, 1991 in Maesycwmmer , Caerphilly ) is a British actor . Roberts is best known for the role of Oliver Tate in Submarine , a British " coming-of-age " dramedy .

Life

Roberts was born on January 21, 1991 in Maesycwmmer ( Caerphilly ) in Wales and attended the Lewis School in Pengam (Caerphilly). He has one sister and two half-sisters.

Career

Roberts began his acting career with roles in the television drama Care (2000) and Little Pudding (2003). He then appeared in the BBC series The Story of Tracy Beaker (2005-2006) and Casualty (2005, 2008) and played the vampire fanatic Robin Branagh in Young Dracula (2006-2008). He was also seen in the television films Kiddo (2005) and Scratching (2006).

Roberts performed on stage in 2008 with the UK-based Y Touring Theater Company. There he played the young Ryan in Full Time , a play that thematizes racism, sexism and homophobia in football; in January 2009 he was Drax, the evil queen's henchman, in the fairy tale Snow White in Worthing .

In 2010, Roberts became known to a wider audience for his leading role in the film adaptation of the novel Submarine . Richard Ayoade directed the film . Since then, Roberts has appeared in the BBC Three television series Being Human (2011, 2012) and in the online version Becoming Human (2011) as Adam.

For the band The Killers he starred in the music video for Here with Me in 2012 . Directed by Tim Burton and fellow actress Winona Ryder . At the end of 2012 he began work on the comedy series The Sheepish Approach , which he wrote and directed the screenplay.

In 2013 he starred alongside Charlotte Ritchie and Rosamund Hanson in the film Jolene: The Indie Folk Star . He was also seen as Dom in the seventh and final season of Skins . He also starred in Manic Street Preachers ' video for Show Me the Wonder and starred in the music video Avocado, Baby of Los Campesinos! Director.

Since 2014 he plays the lead role in the Amazon - television series Red Oaks .
