Redención Pampa is a town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Redención Pampa is the most populous town in the Mojocoya Municipality in the Jaime Zudáñez Province . The village is located at an altitude of 2464  m on a plateau between the Río Zudáñez in the west, the Río Tomina in the east and the Río Grande in the north.

Redención Pampa lies in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central and the Bolivian lowlands. The region has a typical time-of-day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations are greater during the day than during the year.

The annual average temperature of the region is almost 16 ° C (see climate diagram Redención Pampa) and fluctuates only marginally between a good 12 ° C in July and a good 17 ° C from November to January. The annual precipitation is almost 600 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to August with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a humidity period from December to February with 100 to 125 mm monthly precipitation.

Transport network

Redención Pampa is 185 kilometers by road northeast of Sucre , the capital of the department.

From Sucre, the 976 kilometer long national road Ruta 6 leads east via Zudáñez to Tomina and further into the Bolivian lowlands to the megacity Santa Cruz . Thirteen kilometers after Zudáñez, a dirt road turns north, after 49 kilometers it reaches Redención Pampa and then continues to Mojocoya .

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Mojocoya 95.9 percent of the population speak Quechua .
