Redmond Gerard (born June 29, 2000 in Westlake , Ohio ) is an American snowboarder . He starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Gerard has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2012 . He achieved his first podium finishes in the 2014/15 season with two second places in slopestyle at the US Revolution Tour in Mammoth . At the 2015 Snowboard Junior World Championships in Yabuli , he finished fourth in slopestyle. He made his debut in the Snowboard World Cup at the beginning of the 2015/16 season in Cardrona and finished 11th in Slopestyle. In February 2016, he came third in the big air Ale Invite competition . In January 2017 he reached his first podium in the World Cup with third place in slopestyle on Kreischberg . At the Winter X Games 2017 in Aspen , he finished 14th in Slopestyle. At the beginning of February 2017 he won the Slopestyle at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and World Cup in Mammoth and won the Slopestyle World Cup at the end of the season. He took fourth place in the Freestyle World Cup. At the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell , he finished ninth in slopestyle. In the 2017/18 season, he finished second in the Big Air in Milan and first in the slopestyle in Snowmass, fourth in the freestyle world cup and second in the slopestyle world cup. He also came second in the Slopestyle at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth. At the end of January 2018 he finished fourth in the Slopestyle at the Winter X Games in Aspen. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he won the Slopestyle competition and finished fifth in Big Air.

In the 2018/19 season, Gerard won the Burton US Open in Vail and the World Cup in Mammoth in slopestyle. At the Winter X Games 2019 he came fifth and at the Snowboard World Championships 2019 in Park City he came in 11th place in slopestyle. In the following season he was second in Big Air in Cardrona and second in Slopestyle in Laax and thus achieved tenth place in the Freestyle World Cup and sixth place in the Big Air World Cup. He also won the Slopestyle Winter Dew Tour at Copper Mountain and came third in Slopestyle at the Burton US Open. At the Winter X Games 2020 , he won the bronze medal in slopestyle.
