Reed Johann Zuehlke (born October 26, 1960 in Eau Claire , Wisconsin ) is a former American ski jumper .

Career

Zuehlke played his first international competition at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . He reached 45th place on the large hill.

After the Winter Games, he was included in the squad for the ski jumping World Cup that had just started . Zuehlke competed in his first World Cup competition on February 27, 1980 in St. Moritz and immediately achieved 6th place. In Gstaad , too , with 5th place, he was among the top ten. This 5th place should also remain his best place in a World Cup competition for five years. The next two years were mixed with results. He was rarely able to jump into the points in jumping. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 he reached 40th place on the normal hill and 54th place on the large hill. In the team competition he reached 6th and last place together with Nils Stolzlechner , Jeff Hastings and John Broman .

In January 1983 he was able to jump back into the top ten on his home hill in Lake Placid with sixth place after a long dry spell. At the 1984 Winter Olympics , Zuehlke was again in the squad for the USA and jumped to 29th place on the large hill.

On January 8, 1985 Zuehlke played his last jumping in the Ski Jumping World Cup. In Cortina d'Ampezzo he reached fourth place, the highest individual placement of his career. He ended his ski jumping career with 34th place in the overall World Cup ranking.
