Reg Allen (production designer)
Reginald "Reg" Allen (born April 12, 1917 in Wolverhampton , England , † March 30, 1989 in Laguna Beach , California ) was a British set designer and prop master .
Life
Allen began his career in film crew in 1963 as a prop on the set of the Blake Edwards - Comedy The Pink Panther . By 1979 he worked on a total of nine Edwards feature films, including The Great Race Around the World , Missouri , The Party Schreck and Ten - The Dream Woman . In 1973 he was nominated for Sidney J. Furie's biography about Billie Holiday , Lady Sings the Blues , together with Carl Anderson for an Oscar in the category Best Production Design. However, the award this year went to Cabaret .
Allen also worked occasionally for television. For his work on the western series The Crooks Coast with William Shatner and Doug McClure in the leading roles, he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 1976 .
