RegioNetz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The regional networks of Deutsche Bahn have been created since 2002 as part of the SME offensive. In the form of "small railways" ( Mehdorn ), railway lines of little importance are to be made more attractive through greater flexibility and local activities.

Like the regional networks (infrastructure only) formed as an alternative at DB Netz AG , the regional networks (infrastructure and traffic) are characterized by new, simple structures. The RegioNetze were spun off from the Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) and operate largely economically as a " profit center ". They each consist of a department of DB RegioNetz Infrastruktur GmbH (RNI) and DB RegioNetz Verkehrs GmbH (RNV). Both companies are wholly owned subsidiaries of DB Netz AG and DB Regio AG .

DB Regio Netze consists of the following six networks (as of 2017):

Surname region Train km / a Passengers / d vehicles own stations own route network Total line network Employee
Erzgebirgsbahn (EGB) Saxony 2.4 million 5200 18th 76 252 km 233 km 252
Gäubodenbahn (GBB) Lower Bavaria 622,000 1700 5 46 km 28
Kurhessenbahn (KHB) North Hesse, NRW 2.9 million 7500 27 55 230 km 308 km 269
Oberweißbacher Berg- und Schwarzatalbahn (OBS) Thuringia 358,000 1200 7th 10 28 km 29 km 29
Südostbayernbahn (SOB) Upper and Lower Bavaria 6.9 million 34,500 149 79 417 km 550 km 831
West Franconian Railway (WFB) Lower Franconia, northern BW 3.6 million 15,100 55 50 204 km 401 km 344

Added to this is the Sales Service Ostbayern (VOS) as the seventh RegioNetz without traffic. With 90 employees, it operates a total of 16 sales locations, including four travel agencies, 15 travel centers and nine bistros at the train station.

In total, the railway infrastructure company DB RegioNetz Infrastruktur GmbH operates 1200 kilometers of rail routes with the associated stations and stops. The rail vehicles with which the transport operations are carried out on these routes belong to the railway company DB RegioNetz Verkehrs GmbH .

Every year, 13 million train kilometers and 18 million passengers are carried on the RegioNetworks.

history

The regional networks were founded on January 1, 2002 as independent regional organizational units under the umbrella of the newly founded DB RegioNetz GmbH ; the parent company was divided into a rail transport and an infrastructure company. To establish the regional networks, around 67 million euros were invested in new vehicles and maintenance, including 25.5 million euros in Deutsche Bahn AG's own funds.

With around 1000 employees, around 30,000 passengers were transported per day and around ten million train kilometers per year. Around 2002, there were 500 to 3000 travelers per day on the individual routes. (Status: 2003)

In December 2015, DB RegioNetz Verkehrs-GmbH took over operations on the Kahlgrundbahn from the previous operator, Hessische Landesbahn .

In 2017, the total number of passengers is 21.9 million per year, 40 percent more than 15 years earlier. The turnover is 230 million euros with 16.8 million train kilometers per year. The number of employees has increased from around 900 to 1,891 since 2002.

In 2018, the Vehicle and Technology Center (FTZ) in Chemnitz is to be added as a further RegioNetz. New technical developments and maintenance work are bundled there. Among other things, the EcoTrain , a diesel-electric hybrid multiple unit , is to be converted in series there. From 2018, twelve multiple units will be converted for the Erzgebirgsbahn, which are to be used by 2021 and are expected to emit up to 35 percent less CO 2 .
