Region of the tens of thousands
Location of the region in Baden-Württemberg |
The region of 10 thousand is a region of the Swabian Alb in Baden-Württemberg .
Almost all of the highest Albbergs (each over 1000 m above sea level ) including the highest Albberg ( 1015.7 m ) are located in this relatively small region of only 20 km² around Deilingen , Wehingen and Gosheim on the south-west Alb .
The name "Region of the 10,000" goes back to an action group that was initiated by various restaurants and communities in the Heuberg to promote regional tourism .
The tens of thousands are - sorted by height in meters (m) above mean sea level (NHN):
- Lemberg ( 1015.7 m ), near Gosheim , highest mountain in the Swabian Alb ( ⊙ )
- Oberhohenberg ( 1009.6 m ), near Schörzingen ( ⊙ )
- Hochberg ( 1008.9 m ), near Delkhofen ( ⊙ )
- Wandbühl ( 1006.8 m ), near Delkhofen ( ⊙ )
- Rainen ( 1006.4 m ), near Deilingen ( ⊙ )
- Montschenloch ( 1004.4 m ), near Delkhofen ( ⊙ )
- Hochwald ( 1002.6 m ), near Gosheim ( ⊙ )

- Hummelsberg ( 1002.1 m ), near Denkingen ( ⊙ )
- Kehlen ( 1001.3 m ), near Gosheim ( ⊙ )
According to the Schartenhöhe criterion , only a few of these 10 peaks would be independent mountains.
Each form
- Lemberg, Hochberg, Oberhohenberg
- Hochwald, Kehlen, Hummelsberg
- Wandbühl, Montschenloch, Bol, Rainen
mountain ranges of uniform height, which makes it difficult for those unfamiliar with the area to identify the respective peaks.
The two other 1000 m high Albberge, the 1001.7 m high and very striking Plettenberg ( ⊙ ) near Dotternhausen and the 999.3 m high Schafberg ( ⊙ ) near Hausen am Tann are located about 8 km to the north-northeast and are not among the 10 Counted in thousands .
