Reinhard Bentmann

Reinhard Bentmann (born April 2, 1939 in Karlsruhe ) is a German art historian and monument conservator .

Live and act

Reinhard Bentmann studied art history , archeology and German at the universities of Frankfurt am Main , Heidelberg and Munich . With a thesis on the Villa Barbaro by Andrea Palladio , he was a PhD . In 1970 he and Michael Müller published the book Die Villa als Herrschaftsarchitektur on the basis of his dissertation , which appeared in several editions and has been translated into several languages.

From 1973 he worked at the State Office for Monument Preservation Hesse in Wiesbaden and, as chief curator, was head of the Department of Building and Art Preservation . In the 1970s and 1980s he was a district monument curator and responsible for redevelopment areas in Central Hesse.

Reinhard Bentmann is retired and lives in Eltville .
