Christina Vanja

Christina Vanja (born May 23, 1952 in Winterthur , Switzerland ) is a German historian and archivist .

Live and act

Christina Vanja studied history , political science and German at the Universities of Marburg and Frankfurt am Main . In 1982 she was at the University of Kassel Dr. phil. PhD . From 1983 to 1985 she trained as a scientific archivist at the Marburg Archive School and passed the assessor exam for the higher archives service. 1985/1986 she was a research assistant at the German Mining Archive in Bochum. From 1986 she headed the archive of the State Welfare Association of Hesse as well as the department “Archive, Memorials, Historical Collections” at the State Welfare Association of Hesse in Kassel. 2001 habilitation they are for the subject Modern History and in 2007 unscheduled professor at the University of Kassel. In 2017 she was adopted into retirement.

The focal points of Christina Vanja are in the fields of social history , the gender history , the history of medicine and the history of psychiatry .

Christina Vanja is a member of the main committee of the Historical Commission for Hesse (since 2002), deputy chairwoman of the German Society for Hospital History and co-editor of its yearbook Historia Hospitalium . She is a member of the advisory board of the German Society for the History of Neurology and a member of the advisory board of the Virus book series . Contribution to the social history of medicine and member of the working group "Homo debilis" at the University of Bremen .
