Reinhard Christian Wilhelm Aurelius Steimmig (born July 25, 1785 in Bretten , † March 5, 1840 in Mannheim ) was a German physician.

Life

Reinhard Christian Wilhelm Aurelius Steimmig was born as the son of the district doctor Johann Philipp Steimmig and his wife Wilhelmine Dorothea Sabine (* April 9, 1762; † unknown) in Bretten. He was mainly raised by his maternal grandfather, special superintendent Wilhelm Aurelius Krippendorf (1731-1809) in Knittlingen . He then attended grammar school in Mannheim with the rector Friedrich Wilhelm Schüssler.

After finishing high school, he went to Heidelberg University in 1801 , where he studied philosophy and medicine until 1803. In 1803 he moved to the University of Jena , where he finished his studies with a doctorate in medicine.

After returning to his place of birth, he was employed there in the civil service and in 1813 was given the position of vacant district doctor in Gochsheim . In 1814 he moved to the Wertheim district , where he also moved his residence. He later became a medical consultant at the district directorate and then a medical councilor . When the medical advisor to the government and the court court of the Main and Tauber district in Mannheim, Privy Councilor Johann Baptist Schuler, retired in 1839, Reinhard Christian Wilhelm Aurelius Steimmig was appointed as his successor.

He was married to Friederike Charlotte Wilhelmine, b. Hallwachs, a daughter of the Hessian court and government councilor Johann Karl Georg Hallwachs (1751–1797), the brothers-in-law were Wilhelm Hallwachs and Georg Hallwachs .

Awards

  • He received the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Zähringer Lion .
  • In 1839 he received the diploma of honorary citizenship from the city of Wertheim.
